Step 1 of the Employment Project (job ad and anaylsis) is due for checking.

Step 2 of the Employment Project (Cover Letters) is due for workshop. Each team member should receive two peer responses to the draft of the cover letter. Teams can decide F2F who will respond to which letters. The response form should be downloaded, opened in Word, completed, printed, signed, and then returned to the writer by the end of class.

Step 3 of Emplyoment Project is due (Resumes) for peer review and discussion.

Drafts of resumes are due for peer review in class. Complete two peer reviews. Each reviewer should address the questions on the Resume Peer Review sheet by downloading the Word document, responding, then printing or emailing the checklist back to two writers. Be sure that you receive credit for this step by showing me that you've completed your reviews!

Discuss resumes orally in groups of three.

Work on Step 4 of the Employment Project (Project Assessment Document).

Read and discuss Chapter 52, "Arguing and Informing Visually: Designing Effective Printed Documents" from Thomson 21. Pay special attention to pages 11-16 (Quadrant and Column tests for resumes.) Password protected PDF file. Use the password assigned to this class that I provided you.

Step 1: Topic Development of the Open Source Contexts project is due by the middle of class. Write a one-page memo, addressed to me, stating your topic's focus and your reasons for choosing the topic and your approach. Follow the guidelines for memo writing outlined at Purdue's Owl. Your memo will be read and reviewed during the second half of class. Email an electronic copy in PDF format to me (blakesle@purdue.edu) and each team member.

Due: Step 2 of the Open Soure Contexts Project. Create a Resource List containing at least 10 entries, 2 of whiich should be print-based sources.

Email your resource list in Word (.doc) format to me (blakesle@purdue.edu) for comments, suggestions, and compiling. Be sure to copy all team members. Provide full bibliographic information Authorship/Title/Publication Information). Use the Columbia Guide to Online Style (CGOS) format for electronic sources. Use MLA citation style for printed sources. (See Purdue's OWL for more on that style.) Be sure to copy all team members. Electronic draft due by the end of the day on Friday, May 28.

Monday, May 31 is Memorial Day. There is no class.
