I like the direction it is going. I'm still a novice with regard to critiquing visual tests, however, so any advice you offer will be greatly appreciated.
http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp07/blakesley7/node/400#comment Working Document Project (Step 5) Thu, 03 May 2007 12:02:54 -0400 nrivers 400 at http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp07/blakesley7 What Ryan Failed To Do http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp07/blakesley7/node/394
Take It!
http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp07/blakesley7/node/394#comment ICAP Documents Sun, 29 Apr 2007 15:24:48 -0400 nrivers 394 at http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp07/blakesley7 final copies http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp07/blakesley7/node/393
Final Copies
http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp07/blakesley7/node/393#comment ICAP Documents Sun, 29 Apr 2007 15:17:12 -0400 nrivers 393 at http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp07/blakesley7 Newest Activities Page (nearly done except for color issues) http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp07/blakesley7/node/383
Heck Yeah I want a Peta Pocket!
http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp07/blakesley7/node/383#comment ICAP Documents Thu, 26 Apr 2007 15:53:15 -0400 nrivers 383 at http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp07/blakesley7 New Activities Page http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp07/blakesley7/node/381
Here is the most recent activities page.
http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp07/blakesley7/node/381#comment ICAP Documents Wed, 25 Apr 2007 18:09:37 -0400 nrivers 381 at http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp07/blakesley7 Rivers Exploration Project http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp07/blakesley7/node/368
Attached please find a rough draft of my exploration project. He qualifies this by arguing that it's when doctors become anchored to their gut reactions and diagnoses and refuse to reconsider that trouble insues.

What is very interesting for the rhetoric is Groopman's reason for writing the book. He states that he wants patients to know how doctors think so that they can help their doctor's think better. Such a conception of audience and audience interaction is a really interesting framework for understand and developing ethos. Older versions of ethos saw it as fairly stable and something developed for an audience. Some contemporary versions, however, see ethos as something a rhetor develops with the audience each time. Dr. Groopman seems to argue that such a progressive construction of the doctor's ethos can lead to better diagnosis and better care.
http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp07/blakesley7/node/316#comment News and Announcements Tue, 20 Mar 2007 21:12:03 -0400 nrivers 316 at http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp07/blakesley7 Large and In Charge http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp07/blakesley7/node/313
A note or two on the author:

1. Jenkins is eager to celebrate viewer control over content. I am as well, but not in all contexts and with all content. For example, fans eager for shows to extend their runs are often wrong. I had no democratic access to Seinfeld during its run. Larry David (who left the show after the seventh season) and Jerry Seinfeld exercised a large amount of control over the show. Seinfeld, seizing the moment, decided that the show had reached the end of its run and he wanted it to go out on top. Anymore Seinfeld now would risk disappointing. The creators had a vision and stuck to it despite the presence of a strong fan base that wanted more and network that was willing to pay.

http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp07/blakesley7/node/313#comment Weekly Reading Response Tue, 20 Mar 2007 10:52:58 -0400 nrivers 313 at http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp07/blakesley7 Rivers: Information Project http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp07/blakesley7/node/287
Attached please find my information project.
http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp07/blakesley7/node/287#comment Information Project (Step 3) Tue, 06 Mar 2007 13:29:44 -0500 nrivers 287 at http://www.digitalparlor.org/sp07/blakesley7
