AttenTV

Interesting little site here at http://atten.tv AttenTV claims to be "the Truman Show for attention economy." I haven't checked it out too much, but appearently it tracks your clickstream on the web and then broadcasts that for others to watch.

Wow. This screams problematic or pathological exhibitionism to me. I mean, the site's text alternates between being the one watched and watching. Even the visual rhetoric of the site, the excessive eye-on-man logo . . . damn. If this isn't a spoof, I'm scared.

That said (oh, the mania) I can actually think of a handful of either really web-savvy or simply intersting people who I would LOVE to track just because they know what's out there and I don't. Community . . . is this is solution to Epic 2015's brainlessness: an e-mentor system?

I never thought of the possibility of spoof, but I reckon it ain't. Welcome to the world of mass-voyuerism. I suppose this isn't too different from a site like de.lic.ious where people create webs of links that they've been using. Then again, I guess this is totally different--for it's everything, not just the highlighted choices that the surfer wants others to see. Overall, the increasing notion of watching what others are doing (no matter how potentially mundane) as our own entertainment is fascinating.
