FAMILY
My wife
and I both grew up in suburban Detroit. We met at a dance when I was
a Hope student and she was attending the University of Michigan. My
sister introduced us. We dated for about a year and a half while we
were undergraduates. We ended up going separate ways for graduate
school but four years later we were back together again. We married
in 1988. She received her J.D. degree from the Marshall-Wythe School
of Law at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia.
We have two boys, Alex and Benjamin. Both love sports and a great students. My sister
Cheryl is a school consultant and holds a PhD from the University
of Washington in Seattle. She is interested in the philosophy of
education
and
works with students who are disadvantaged. My other
sister, Tracy, is a registered nurse in Florida. She recently completed
her B.S. in nursing. My parents
retired in 1986 (my father worked for General Motors and my mother
for Hudson's department store). They quickly moved to Florida to escape the snow and
the long winters and now live in Punta Gorda, Florida. If you
have a high-speed connection, you can view some family
photos from
vacations and Bryan's trips around the world.
Additionally,
I like to listen to opera and like nearly all of the popular Italian
operas. My favorite is Amadeus
Mozart's Don Giovanni. I've seen it performed several times, once by the
Chicago Opera Theater in Hyde Park on a nice warm, starry night.
