U.S. Processing Pea Production Statistics (1993 - 1997)

The bulk of commercially produced green peas come from Minnesota, Washington, Wisconsin, Oregon and New York. The total U.S. processing green pea crop was harvested from 268,900 acres in 1997 with a total yield of 475,940 tons (average yield = 1.77 tons/acre), and a total value of $136,996,000. In 1997, production of green peas for processing was up about 15% from 1996. About 57% of the crop was used for freezing and the remainder for canning in 1997.

The following data shows production (tons), harvested acres, yield (tons/acre) and total value ($) of the processing green pea crop for the major green pea producing states for the period 1993 to 1997.
