Major producers of processing snap beans include Wisconsin, Oregon, New York and Michigan. Processing snap beans were harvested from 195,480 acres in the U.S. in 1997, with a total yield of 733,000 tons (average yield = 3.75 tons/acre), and a total value
of $129,753,000. In 1997, production of snap beans for processing was down about 4.2% from 1996. About 35% of the crop was used for freezing, and the remainder for canning in 1997.
