U.S. Processing Snap Bean Production Statistics (1993 - 1997)

Major producers of processing snap beans include Wisconsin, Oregon, New York and Michigan. Processing snap beans were harvested from 195,480 acres in the U.S. in 1997, with a total yield of 733,000 tons (average yield = 3.75 tons/acre), and a total value of $129,753,000. In 1997, production of snap beans for processing was down about 4.2% from 1996. About 35% of the crop was used for freezing, and the remainder for canning in 1997.

The following data shows production (tons), harvested acres, yield (tons/acre) and total value ($) of the processing snap bean crop for the major processing snap bean producing states for the period 1993 to 1997.
