U.S. Bell Pepper Production Statistics (1993 - 1997)

Leading producers of bell peppers (fresh + processed) in the U.S. in 1997 were, Florida, California, Florida, New Jersey and Texas. Bell peppers were harvested from 65,650 acres in the U.S. in 1997, with a total yield of 16,773,000 cwt (average yield = 30 cwt/acre), and a total value of $502,595,000. In 1997, U.S. production of fresh market and processed was down up about 1.1% from 1996.

The following data shows production (cwt), harvested acres, yield (cwt/acre) and total value ($) of the bell pepper (fresh + processed) crop for the major bell pepper producing states for the period 1993 to 1997.
