| I believe in integrating my research and engagement work into the classroom.
The main way I do this is by having students work on ‘real’ projects in all my classes. |
FNR 498C: Natural Resource Planning |
| I am responsible for the undergraduate capstone course in the department which is offered every year.
In this course, I challenge students to write a natural resource management plan for a large area.
In 2005, students wrote a plan for Brown and Monroe Counties in Indiana. In 2006, students wrote a
plan for the Kankakee Sands area of Indiana and Illinois. The most recent syllabus can be found here.

FNR 598V: Community Involvement in Natural Resource Management |
|
In the fall of 2006, I will teach
Community Involvement in Natural Resource Management. Students
enrolled in this class will help to design and facilitate a community visioning project for the future
of the Wabash River in Tippecanoe County.

FNR 598R: Regional Land Use Planning |
|
In the fall of 2004 and 2005, I taught Regional Land Use Planning at the graduate level. In 2005, students
worked on projects of relevance to two regional planning initiatives in Indiana – greenways in Northwestern
Indiana and watershed planning for the Clifty Creek Watershed. The most recent syllabus can be found here.
