The Purdue Cycling Club is a member of the Midwest
Collegiate Cycling Conference (MWCCC). The 2008 season has come to an
end with Collegiate Nationals at Colorado State University in Fort
Collins, Colorado on May 10 and 11th. Purdue Cycling qualified as
a team and our riders did well.
If you would like to race in the upcoming 2009 season, there are
classes for everyone, from beginners to advanced, and for both women
and men. You don't need any prior experience to race with the Purdue
Cycling Club, just a bike and the will for fun! Come to one of our
meetings for more information, or email our Road Vice President, Joey
Iuliano (jiuliano@purdue.edu). You can also use the Purdue Cycling
email list for more information.

Classes
Here is info on the classing system the MWCCC uses, so you
have an idea of what class to race in:
|
Men's A's
- Men's A's -
Doesn't get any harder than this in collegiate road cycling. Serious,
grueling, and sharp skills describe this category. Most races range
from 60-70 miles. Make sure you're training and have a few seasons
racing under your belt before entering this category. (60-70 mile
races/ USCF Cat. Pro/1/2/3) |
|
Men's
B's/Women's A's -
A step up from C's, B's is a pretty good challenge for a lot of
cyclists. This category can get pretty competitive, and most
riders in this category have a decent amount of riding experience. Most
races range from 40-50 miles. (40-50 mile races/ USCF Cat. 3/4) |
|
Men's
C's/Woman's B's - This is
a good category that is fun and competitive. This category has a
wide variety of skills as it has some sandbaggers, and some people who
just moved up from D's. Most races range from 20-30 miles. (20-30 mile
races/ USCF Cat. 4/5) |
|
Men's D's - This division is designed for cyclists in their first
season. Most riders start off here, and then move up to C's if
they are successful. Races are usually 25 miles or less. (up to
25 mile races) |
