(Costa Rica) CR Gallery ~ July 2004
Bill and I flew into San Jose on Saturday July 3, 2004 then stayed ovenight at the
'old' standby -- Hampton Inn at the Airport. Tamara and the girls, Sofia
& Fatima, picked us up the next morning. We had lunch before leaving
San Jose and quickly (as much as possible) traveled back to Turrialba.
Fatima had a school program scheduled for Sunday afternoon. We arrived at
Allan Esquivel & Tamara Benjamin's finca just in time to turn around and
take the sleeping Fatima to her program. Sofia stayed home with father,
Allan, and the animals.
Sofia turned seven years old during our visit thus there was a big
birthday party while we were in Turrialba.
Bill and I stayed at the finca while in Turrialba, but visited other tico
friends as well. Monday night we had dinner with a few close friends at
Turrialtico -- a restaurant with a great view of the surrounding Turrialba
countryside!

CATIE's Wallace Building in Turrialba, Costa Rica
We traveled on Thursday with Tamara, Allan, Sofia & Fatima to
Tortuguero in the northeast corner of the country to see the Green Sea
Turtles. It was a long drive to Squirres, then ~1 hour on a stone road to
the boat that would take us to our Somoa Lodge. The boat ride was ~1 hour
as well. You see one can only get to Tortuguero by boat OR air!! Prior to
this trip, however, Bill & I enjoyed the country finca with lots of dogs,
cats, chickens, horses, pigs, etc! And Turrialba itself, of course!
