The purpose of Karate-do (the "way" of karate) is to achieve perfection of character. What we do is not a form of exercise -though you will get plenty of that in your training- and it is not a sport. What we do is a martial art, and we take it seriously. The style is called Shotokan which is considered a Japanese "hard" style of martial art. To be successful in your training, you do not need to be young, or fit, or limber. You only need to do your best. The Challenge Karate Club at Purdue University invites you to its next beginning cycle, which will start on Tuesday, January 16, 2007 .

If you miss this time, keep in mind that a new beginning cycle starts every seven weeks. See our club information page for details.
