How Does Scholar Work?

Step 1: Create your account (in My Scholar Home)

Step 2: Register the course (in Scholar Course Home)

 Step 3: Install Scholar Bookmarklet

 Step 4: Start Bookmarking

Step 1: Register the Course

As a Blackboard instructor, you can set up a Scholar Course Home by registering the course with Scholar. A Scholar Course Home is unique to the registered course, with dynamic streams specifically for the students in the course.

Under the “Build” tab, click “Add Content Link” and from the menu that appears, select “Scholar Course Home”.

On the submenu that appears, click “Create Scholar Course Home”.

Enter a title. In this tutorial, we will enter the name “ Scholar Course Homepage”. Click “Save”.

Now you will see a "Scholar Course Homepage" icon created in your course home page. The icon is a link to your Scholar Course Home. Scholar works in the “Teach” mode. Change the tab to “Teach” and click the Scholar Course Homepage icon.

The first time, Scholar will open inside the Blackboard course frame and ask to register your course. Select the discipline of your course and click "Register Course".

Your course has been registered with Scholar.

Instructors can customize their course's Scholar Course Home by adding/managing Streams that are relevant and valuable to the course. Click here to see how to add/manage Streams.
