Mission Statement
The mission of the Coalition for a Safe & Drug-Free Tippecanoe County is to improve the quality of life in Tippecanoe County by creating county-wide awareness of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs (ATOD) issues and reducing abuse of and dependency on these substances through prevention / education, treatment / intervention, and judicial / law enforcement.

Coalition Awards over $120,000 in Grants
The Coalition for a Safe & Drug-Free Tippecanoe County held its annual meeting on August 8 at the Holiday Inn Select Centre in downtown Lafayette.
At the meeting, members voted on a new slate of officers. Officers
from 2006-2007 were recognized for their work the past year. Past
officers included Tanya Fry, Beth Moore, Dan Shumaker, Lisa Smith,
Jennifer Swartz, and Brian Holt.
Coalition Funds at Work!
At our July Coalition meeting, Family Services reported that he had served 71 youth in the Insight program. Insight is a five-week early intervention and education program for youth in grades 7-12 who have reported using alcohol and other drugs. 66% of the program participants demonstrated an increase in knowledge about the harm caused by alcohol, marijuana, and other drug use. In addition, 80% of the participants demonstrated a reduction in alcohol use, 67% reduction in marijuana use, and 100% demonstrated a reduction in other drug use.
Get Involved with the Dangerous Drinking Prevention Project
The Coalition has officially started work on the Dangerous Drinking Prevention Project, funded by the Strategic Prevention Framework – State Incentive Grant (SPF-SIG). We need volunteers to serve on the following committees. Please contact our staff to find out more about how you can get involved!

Purdue University’s Student Wellness Office has launched a social marketing campaign geared toward first-year college students. The program, PEEPS (Positive Educational Experiences for Purdue Students) was made possible through a US Department of Education grant.
