The Acacia Preamble:
"...to strengthen the ties of friendship,
one with another; to prepare ourselves as educated men
to take a more active part and to have a greater influence
in the affairs of the community in which we may reside;
and above all, to seek the truth and knowing it, to give
light to those with whom we may be associated as we
travel along life's pathway."
Acacia Values:
The three values of Acacia, which you may have noticed elsewhere on this website, are Truth, Morality, and Wisdom. These values play a prominent role in the day to day ritual that all brothers lead. These are the same values that the first Acacia chapter was founded on over 100 years ago. Of course many things have changed since 1904, but these three principles are still incorporated. The metrics that we have chosen to gauge our comprehension of these ideals and their continued relevance are Scholarship, Brotherhood, and Community Service.
Scholarship:
We maintain a fraternity wide level of expected academic performance. We also offer scholarships, homework help, and study table hours. Please see the scholarship tab above for more information.
Brotherhood:
One definition of Brotherhood is "the belief that all people should act with warmth and equality toward one another, regardless of differences in race, creed, nationality, etc". To Acacians, this means a bond developed with individuals in the local chapter as well as with Acacians from other chapters. The common bond between these individuals in the Ritual of Acacia, and it is a constant obligation to maintain this common bond. This is accomplished through brotherhood events such as bowling nights, pickup football games, camping trips, and other events which encourage fellowship and discussion between all brothers. Acacia is open to all those who prove to be aligned with the principles that Acacia was founded on, and will not be denied for any of the reasons mentioned above.
Community Service:
The Crest of Acacia contains a greek phrase which translates into Human Service, Acacia's motto. This is a main emphasis for the Samekh Chapter, and we actively participate in and lead both service projects and philanthropy events hosted by other fraternities and sororities. Acacia Fraternity encourages these activites with a point system, where points are offered for those who participate and donate their time. Please see the photo album for pictures from past service projects.
