COMPANY DESCRIPTION

With more than 60 years of experience, Hewitt Associates is the world’s foremost provider of human resources outsourcing and consulting services. The firm consults with more than 2,300 companies and administers human resources, health care, payroll and retirement programs on behalf of more than 300 companies to millions of employees and retirees worldwide. Located in 35 countries, Hewitt employs approximately 20,000 associates. For more information, please visit www.hewitt.com.

JOB DESCRIPTION
We have actuarial analyst positions in both our Retirement and Health practices. Below is a description of each practice and position.

RETIREMENT CONSULTING
Pension and other retirement plans have enormous financial implications for employers. Hewitt actuaries work directly with our clients’ management teams to assess the short and long-term costs associated with these commitments. Some of the most important projects that actuarial consultants at Hewitt work on are the annual pension “valuations.” Each year, the actuary collects census data from the clients and performs the annual valuation. With the results of these valuations, we help our clients assess the ongoing financial health of their pension plans.
In addition to the pension valuation process, we work regularly with clients in the human resource and financial areas, and meet with them frequently to present the results of our analysis. Some of the other projects actuarial consultants at Hewitt become involved with include:

  1. Projections (both stochastic and deterministic) of long-term financial information for pension and other post-retirement benefit plans;
  2. Merger and acquisition “due diligence” and related activities;
  3. Design and costing of new retirement programs;
  4. Development of leading-edge pension administration systems;
  5. Union negotiation support and analysis; and
  6. Quantitative comparison of comprehensive employee benefit programs for groups of employers.

HEALTH MANAGEMENT CONSULTING
Employer-sponsored health and welfare benefit programs form the foundation of the U.S. health care system. These programs have evolved over time as employers have attempted to manage the changing needs of employees, rising program costs, and the impact of new legislation while supporting their human resource and business strategies. Hewitt health management actuaries and consultants work directly with our clients to develop short and longer-term health and welfare benefit strategies. This process involves strategic assessments of the health care market and key trends and the identification of new and innovative solutions to employer problems. The technical and analytical skills health management actuaries bring to this process are critical to our health management consulting.
In addition to the strategy-setting process, health management actuaries are often involved with the following projects which support our clients' annual and ongoing health management needs:

  1. Evaluation of plan design and costs relative to various measures and benchmarks with reporting to clients.
  2. Health care budget rate-setting for self-insured plans including the analysis of medical and prescription drug claims data.
  3. Identification of savings opportunities and financial modeling associated with plan design and provider network changes.
  4. Employee contribution rate development and scenario analysis.
  5. Analysis of insured plan renewals for appropriateness and carrier bid financial evaluations.
  6. Retiree medical and disability plan valuations.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

We look for applicants who:

    1. Have outstanding quantitative and analytical skills;
    2. Have strong written and verbal communication skills;
    3. Enjoy working on complex, mathematically-oriented projects;
    4. Like working in a team environment; and
    5. Have a 3.0 GPA or higher.

Our Actuarial Analyst role encompasses both students that are and are not taking actuarial exams. We are seeking self-motivated individuals who desire a challenge, who want to join a growing group of dedicated professionals, and who enjoy being part of a successful team effort. If you are such an individual, we invite you to discuss with us ways in which you can contribute to our growth.

Additional Info:

Life Equity LLC has been a leading life settlement provider since its formation in 2000. We offer a professional business approach to life settlements by bringing the highest ethical and legal standards to the life settlement market, while delivering fair, consistent and transparent offers to prospective policy sellers.

We work exclusively with internationally reputable institutional investors to purchase life insurance policies from policyholders.  Such funding sources permit Life Equity to accept policies of every type with virtually no limit in face amount above $250,000.  Having a broad array of institutional funding sources also gives us exceptional flexibility to accept policies across a full range of life expectancies.

Life Equity sources policies through a nationwide network of independent brokers, agents, CPAs, financial planners and attorneys.  Life Equity is very careful in its selection of brokers and others who intermediate life settlements on behalf of policy sellers.  All brokers and other representatives with whom Life Equity transacts business must be in good standing with respect to their licenses and the conduct of their businesses, and must successfully complete a third-party background investigation before they can be appointed as an approved seller representative.

As a life settlement provider, we at Life Equity analyze and conduct due diligence on policies, calculate offer amounts for policies, and prepare all documentation required to complete the purchase of policies. We obtain life expectancy reports from nationally recognized independent underwriting firms. We use only state-approved forms in states that regulate life settlements, and in every state we use third party escrow services to protect policy sellers and to safeguard the integrity of the settlement process.

Life Equity also offers policy servicing with services ranging from tracking of insureds to monitoring the punctual scheduled payment of policy premiums, to conducting annual policy assessments to optimize investment performance.

Life Equity’s dedication to establishing consistent and highly ethical practices includes advocating for life settlement legislation in the states and following NAIC recommended procedures.  Life Equity is a co-founder of an industry-leading life settlement trade association, the Life Settlement Institute, which is currently chaired by Mr. Brian Smith, Life Equity’s Chief Executive Officer.  Members of LSI have been responsible for nearly all life settlement legislation that has been enacted in the states since 2001.
Today, Life Equity enjoys an industry-wide reputation for its strong origination and servicing capabilities, extensive industry knowledge and unparalleled integrity.  These derive from our dedicated and competent staff, consistency and fair dealing with sellers and brokers, and unwavering ethical principles.  We believe that our approach to life settlements is not only good for business, but also, and more importantly, good for policy sellers.
