Shaare Zedek Fundraiser 2007

During Grand Prix week, the brothers spent two days outside split into groups asking for signatures to raise money for Shaare Zedek. Many people were hesitant to sign at first, some completely ignored us, some walked out of their way to avoid us, and some even pretended to talk on the phone so we'd leave them alone. However, once we got the ball rolling (yes, literally rolling balls at people) they were forced to hear us out and were pleasantly surprised that we didn't want their money, or for them to change their religion, only a signature on a ball that would raise money to save lives in Israel.

    As the day went on our yoga balls began to fill up with signatures gathered from students, faculty, staff, and even the occasional high school tour group. We collected so many signatures that we were forced buy more balls for the second day.

    After two long days here were the results:

Day 1  = 1512 signatures (four balls covered)

Day 2  = 1395 signatures (three balls covered)

Total   = 2907 signatures collected

    Earlier we had collected pledges from friends, family, and members of local Jewish communities based on the number of people we could get to sign our balls.  The total of all the pledges, along with the strait donations, was:

Sum of Pledged Money per Signature =

Total Amount Pledged ($0.70 x 2907) =

Total Amount of Strait Donations =

Grand Total Money Donated to Shaare Zedek =

$0.70

$2034.90

$1155.00

$3189.90

    Even though we ran into a few bumps along the way, we now have a great starting point for future philanthropies.

Of course, and this can't be stressed enough, our success was only possible thanks to the generous donations of all our participants. Without your help none of this would have been possible.

    We are already planning next year's philanthropy to include corporate sponsors, giant yoga balls, and an even bigger check sent directly to Shaare Zedek and the patients it serves in Israel.
