About Us
AHSO is an active group of undergraduate students of various academic backgrounds who gather out of their interest in art. We seek to create events that promote awareness in the university and community and also strive to supplement our classroom learning. Recent events have included:
- Field trip to Indianapolis Museum of Art
- Networking activities such as scavenger hunts and "Are You Smarter Than An Art Historian" game
- Career & Internship Forum
- Resume writing workshop
- Film series
- Guests from the Beehive Collective
AHSO is supported by faculty advisor David Parrish. In order to fulfill our mission, the support of the Art & Design faculty is important.
David Parrish, PhD, specializes in Greco-Roman art and has served as the faculty advisor of AHSO for many years. After earning his PhD from Columbia University in the City of New York, Dr. Parrish came to Purdue where he has since remained.
Catherine Dossin, PhD, is a newcomer to Purdue. After receiving her training from the Sorbonne in Paris, she completed her doctorate at the University of Texas at Austin. Specializing in modern art, Dr. Dossin teaches courses such as Art Now! and Twentieth-ceuntry art. AHSO is excited to get to know her and welcomes her to Purdue!
