Welcome to English 106, Introduction to Rhetoric and Composition. We will be working in three different spaces this semester- a traditional classroom, a conference room, and a computer classroom- and engaging in challenging activities that will involve reading, writing, collaborative work, visual design, and using technology both rhetorically and creatively.

Good writers are, above all, good readers. To communicate effectively and efficiently, you must first have an awareness of the world around you, including changing ideas of literacy. In English 106, we will achieve this awareness by exploring a variety of media. We will practice reading and interpreting not only traditional texts, but also things like posters, websites, and advertising.

I look forward to working with all of you this semester.
