As we move into a modern world we notice that the obsession for being extremely thin is consuming us.  Once just a fad, now 'twigginess' is now being thrusted onto countless girls.

The Miss America Pageant is a walking, talking and breathing advertisement for the unhealthily skinny body.  There is not a SINGLE bigger boned girl in the Miss America Pageant.  In fact the once forbidden two piece swimsuits now dominates the screen.  There is no room for any "flaws". By giving this "skinny-or- bust" appearance, the pageant is brainwashing the viewers, and the contestants alike about this unhealthy beauty.

"Well My typical day is like that of any other girl, I mean I wake up at 6 am and go for a 13 mile run with my golden retriever named 'Rusty'. Then ill skip breakfast and go straight to shopping.  There I will usually spend like $450 on shoes and my kids-sized clothes.  This usually wipes me out so I will usually have a Grande no-fat latte with 3 carrots.  Then ill go home and try on all that I bought.  When I have modeled it all in front of my 120 friends I will put some more make-up on so I can go to the gym. After the gym I will come home and shower, and get ready to go out with my friends for a night on the town.  So as you can see i am like every America teen."*

The pressure put on girls to be thin is unreal. The insanely thin can be found as centerfolds in magazines, on the television screen, in fashion and now to make matters worse they are taking over the "role model" territory.  Miss America is supposed to be someone for people to look up to and strive to be like, especially teenage girls.

how skinny is too skinny?

"does this swimsuit make me look fat, I think I am too fat, Miss America would not wear a size 2!"*
