The
Purdue Experimental Amplification Research (EAR)
Lab is a fully equipped hearing aid and human subject research
facility. The space features a 1200
cubic foot anechoic chamber with 360-degree speaker array, and a 6’ x
6’ (ID) double-walled sound suite. Amplification research equipment
includes KEMAR, hearing aid programming software
and wireless interface, and advanced hearing aid analyzers (the AudioScan Verifit and Fonix 7000). Equipment for human subject testing
and evaluation includes a Type I audiometer, a portable tympanometer,
ER-7C probe microphone system (2), the full MATLAB suite, and two Dell
Precision T3500 computers with 24-bit LynxTWO-B
sound cards (16-channel mixer) and touch screen monitors.
