ALLY is Advocacy.
The Purdue Ally Association, or Ally, is a group of students, faculty, staff, and community members who support the queer (gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, etc.) community at Purdue University. The goal of this organization is to provide identified Allies to the queer community and to actively link these groups to one another for their mutual support as they work toward eradicating homophobia and hetero-sexism.
ALLY is Education.
The Ally Association strives to show the Purdue and Greater Lafayette communities -- through workshops, social activities, and simply being -- that the queer community and its supporters are a positive and dynamic force, indispensable to society. In addition, all Allies -- including those who are themselves queer people -- have participated in training that emphasizes awareness of, and effective action on, issues facing the queer community in the 21st Century.
ALLY is Outreach.
The Ally Association and its ever-growing membership is committed to serving Purdue and Greater Lafayette, and has pledged itself by placing Ally placards on office doors, cubicles, and corkboards in academic departments, advising areas, and residence halls. Look for us, or if you'd prefer, send us an e-mail. We'll be in touch!
