| Self-Description |
|
Hi! My name is Emily Smith. I am from
Zionsville, IN and am currently studying to become a Marriage and Family
Therapist here at Purdue. I am the 8th person in my family to attend
Purdue and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I
absolutely love sports, soccer is one of my loves, but I am always at
every football and basketball game at Purdue. You can normally find me
either working out or helping someone with a problem! I just got back
from studying abroad this past spring in Vienna, Austria, and it was an
experience that completely changed my life. |

Why AGD? |
| There are so many
reasons why I decided to become an Alpha Gam. This house has
been very familiar to me seeing as my mother and two of my aunts
where Alpha Gams while at Purdue and IU. While they were happy
to see me become an Alpha Gam, they did not pressure me into
going to this house. I was able to visit all the houses and
realized that AGD was the house for me. What kept me returning
to AGD during rush, was that I honestly felt the girls cared
about me and liked me for me; they didn't want me to be someone
I wasn't, they wanted me to be Emily and they loved me for it.
This feeling is what defines our sisterhood here. We love each
other for our unique corks and wouldn't ask a single sister to
change who they are; without every personality in the house, we
wouldn't be the same. |

| Favorite
Alpha Gam moment? |
| My favorite
Alpha Gam moment actually happened when I wasn't even at Purdue!
I was studying abroad last spring in Austria and hadn't gotten
any mail the whole semester. One day, I went in to check my mail
and found out I had a box waiting for me at the post office. It
was care package from the girls of Alpha Gamma Delta. I was so
excited! I rushed home and spent the rest of the afternoon going
through notes, letters, gifts, candy, and pictures that all the
girls sent me from back home. It reminded me how much I loved my
sisters and how even though I was thousands of miles away, they
still thought and cared about me! |
| |
|
| What is your favorite
part about being in the house? |
| My favorite part of
being in the house is by far the girls. It is amazing to say
that I am sisters with all of these amazing ladies. I know that
no matter what mood I am in, what crazy thing I want to do, or
what completely boring thing I want to do, there is someone in
the house that will be right beside me through it all! Being an
Alpha Gam has helped me to develop as a person in so many ways.
I don't think anyone can live in a house with 80+ girls and not
learn something about themselves! I have learned that the only
way to get through life is to be yourself. If the people around
you can't accept who that is, then you shouldn't be around
them in the first place. Being in Alpha Gamma Delta taught me to
be myself and be proud of who that is. |

|
| If you could go
anywhere, where would you go and why? |
| Seeing as I just spent
the last 6 months living and traveling around Europe, I think I
should probably go someplace else! I think the next place I
would love to go is to Thailand and Laos. And, of course, if I
was offered a trip back to Vienna, Austria, I would go in a
heartbeat! |
| |
|
| What do you enjoy
doing? |
| I love anything to do
with sports! I also love to do stuff for other people for fun.
Whether that is baking a cake for someone or just helping them
with something... I think it is a ton of fun! I also just love
relaxing with friends and family, watching a good movie,
listening to music, or just talking together. |
| |
| What makes you
unique? |
| I am definitely a major
goofball! An 'Emily moment' would probably be one in which I do
something that completely makes a fool of myself and all I can
do is start laughing and say, "Wow, I am the coolest
kid...EVER!!!" I am also a perfectionist in my own right and
have to finish everything I start. An 'Emily moment' for this
would probably be even when everyone else has left the room, you
can find me in there finishing everything that didn't get done
or cleaning up everything that was not perfectly cleaned. |
| |
| Do you have any
siblings? |
| I have two older
brothers who I love and care for deeply. We are very sarcastic
together and many people probably think we act really dumb
together... but that is what makes us special! |
| |
|
| What foods do you
hate? |
| I am really picky about
fruits. They cannot touch each other at all.... even if they
have their peels on them. Fruit salad is the grossest thing ever
to me!! Bananas and Grapes freak me out!!! |
| |
|
Future Goals |
| My future career goals
are to go to grad school and become a Marriage and Family
Therapist. Other future life goals of mine are to marry a
wonderful man and raise a family with him! In the end, I just
want to live a happy life doing something I love with the people
that I care most about! |
| |
|
|
You've just been given
$500 to spend however you like, what would you spend it on? |
|
I would take half of the money and invest it
in hopes that I will come out with more money to help pay for grad
school and take the other half and use it towards helping children
that are in need. |
