Self-Description

I hate this question, "give a self description." I don't know what to say or where to begin. if there is one way to stump me into silence, this question is it. I guess I'll start with my background? I grew up in Indy and then moved to a small town in Indiana in 4th grade. Basically a move from 99 percent black to 99 percent white population. I'd like to consider myself at least slightly cultured. My family is all farmers, though we aren't, and I know more than the average person needs to know about cows. I think I'm a pretty laid-back, sarcastic person who isn't afraid to say what's on her mind. It usually brings me more trouble than laughs, but that's ok with me. I'm kind of your average middle class white girl beyond all that I've said. I've never won any contest for diversity or unusual-ness, that's for sure.

Why AGD?
Why I chose AGD begins with why I rushed in the first place: I had no place to live after this year, and here I was, a freshman, already worrying about it. I wanted to find a group that would be the same for the rest of my years here, and I didn't want to worry about uprooting myself at the end of every year looking for a new place to live. My friends were rushing to try something new, but I wasn't sure I was the "type" that so many think of when they think "sorority girl". Turns out I was wrong! Once the lists of houses to visit got shorter and shorter, my house stood out among the rest as the place that wasn't your stereotypical sorority (because I'm not your stereotypical sorority girl). It was only when I discovered the house mascot was a squirrel that I decided that this was the house I belonged in. (ha!)

Favorites:
TV
I'm a sucker for the crappiest reality TV shows ever created, and the sad thing is that I completely recognize this. The list includes Rock of Love, Flavor of Love, Real World, The Hills, True Life, and basically anything else on MTV and VH1. I also love the Discovery Channel! i.e.; Man vs. Wild, Dirty Jobs, Mythbusters...and the series that I will watch for the rest of life are LOST, Greys, House and Friends.
Movies
I'm a huge movie fan, basically anytime any where and I'm up for one. Mostly action and mystery, not a big fan of most chick flicks, but i do enjoy the occasional "Notebook" cry, lol. I like anything with Will Smith, Tom Cruise, Morgan Freeman, Indiana Jones, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, etc etc...
Ice Cream
Double-Chocolate and Fudge
Color
GREEN. I'm a walking cliché. I can't help it.

Favorite Alpha Gam Moment
One of my favorite moments was bid night itself, where I listened to Alia Asiaban's hysterical stories of growing up in Jersey and her comments on how watered down the Midwest is comparatively. That was the first night I met everyone and it was just fun to hear funny stories at a massive sleep-over.

Favorite part about living in the house?
My favorite part about being in the house is I have 80 best friends at my finger tips. I have bonded so well with the girls that I've met so far and I'm excited to continue to meet more of them when I live in next year. As a person, I really think my social skills and values have changed. I know that its cliché to talk about how I have changed from an unsure introvert to being confident, outgoing and knowing exactly who I am as a person, but its true.

If you could go anywhere, where would you go and why?
I would go to Europe in general. I love that you can take a train to a different country at a drop of a hat and be able to experience so many cultures and places without taking a plane or having to go far at all.

What do you enjoy doing?
I would read if I had time. TV is always a good option. Working out, eating, organizing my closet (yes I'm that anal), finding new music to listen to, wrestling for the remote, and staying up late enough just to reach that 'slap-happy' mood where everything is hysterical. But being with people in general takes the cake.

What makes you unique?
HA! Ok so the consensus among my friends is that I say what's on my mind and I don't seem to think twice about it. I'm known for saying what everyone else is thinking but afraid to say, and I say it with a sarcastic swagger that usually gets me a few laughs or shocked looks. It's my saucy attitude that makes me unique I suppose.

What food combinations (from the lovely selection that the dorms provide) have you created that you would suggest to others?
I can't have a meal without dipping something in the pre-made vanilla cappuccino from the machines. And EVERYTHING, and I mean everything, is good when dipped in that stuff. It's amazing. I'm talking pancakes, waffles, cookies, scones, cake, pretty much anything from the dessert counter. And the second thing: yogurt is good with everything. On days where the selection in the dining courts has just been crap (which is frequently), I've resorted to yogurt with granola, cereal, fruit, pancakes (crepes) muffins, oatmeal, and as a side dish to everything else. It's a staple of my diet.

Future Goals
Life goals are somewhat limited at the age of nineteen, and I'm not a fan of mapping out my life anyways, but so far I picture myself working in the biomed field designing artificial limbs or growing organs like a mad scientist. I would LOVE to travel and get the heck out of here! And eventually a house, a husband, and kids (but they wont be my idea). And you will never see me staying at home with the baby, sorry.

You've just been given $500 to spend however you like, what would you spend it on?
Clothes; no contest. Probably nice business/work or party clothes. This may sound dumb, but I've always wanted to buy one of those pure bred cats that's like 20% bob-cat and is like 20 pounds (a HUGE cat) with seven toes on each paw. I don't know how much they are but I'd imagine pretty pricey, and if I had a third option, I would probably just stick it in the bank.
