Bonnie Brown:
My sophomore year, we were paired with the Fiji's for the "Turkey Pull"---an intramural tug-o-war in November. The Fiji's were none too thrilled to be paired with us, and made it very clear they didn't want to be there.

There was a team competition, as well as co-ed pairs competition. I was paired with a varsity swimmer--Buster was his name (yes, really) who definitely thought he was a Big Man on Campus. We pulled, and actually won the pairs competition. At the end of the championship pull, Buster let go
of the rope. Unfortunately, I didn't, and went flying face first into the dirt. As I lay there spitting dust, Buster stepped over me and walked away to join his brothers.

That's not the end of the story, however. Since it was a "Turkey Pull" there were prizes---fresh, refrigerated roasting chickens (strange prize, but true)---from the meat counter at the grocery store! I thought it only fair to share the winnings with my partner. I stopped by the Fiji house the next afternoon, saying I wanted to leave something for Buster. The brother pointed me toward the mail room, and left me alone. Perfect. That evening, Buster came home to find one previously refrigerated, whole chicken jammed into his mailbox. Happy Thanksgiving, Buster.

Kay Filak:
My favorite memory is of winning University Sing on Mother's Day weekend in the very first year we were eligible to compete (1968 or 1969?).  We had an incredible leader who was in the women's glee club at Purdue.

Another fun memory is the time a group of us went out in the middle of the night and lifted (literally!) the Beta Theta Pi tombstone (100 lbs+) from the front yard of their house and took it back to the Grad House II for safe keeping.  Of course, we had to return it once they discovered what had happened to it.
