Scholarship

As Alpha Gams, we believe that academics are the most important part of being a student at Purdue. This is why we require a G.P.A. of 2.3 for all our new members. We have several different awards through our chapter, along with several opportunities for scholarships through the chapter and the International Fraternity. We also have different study requirements to help members succeed and keep their GPA’s up.

  • GPA Information
  • Awards – At the end of each semester we hold a scholarship dinner to recognize and award our outstanding members.  During this dinner, we recognize those members who achieve different GPA levels for the previous semester. Members who attain certain GPA awards. The higher the GPA, the better the incentive for the member receiving the award.

Strive for Pi - members who achieve a 3.14 GPA

    • Will be updated soon

At Alpha Gamma Delta, we take pride in our academics so much that we recently remolded our study room. An entire wall is taken up by bookshelves full of binders. These binders are from women who have received an A or a B in a class during a previous semester and donated their binder to the study room to help future members who take the same class. Incentives are given to members who donate binders.

    • Study Hours

Depending on a member’s GPA the previous semester, she must complete a certain amount of study hours each week. This can range anywhere from 0-10 hours. Alpha Gamma Delta feels that this amount is easily achievable by all members and can greatly improve one’s GPA from previous semesters. Also, what better way to study than with your sisters who have to complete the same study hours that you do?!

    • Study Tables

In addition to the study hours, Alpha Gams have a required amount of study tables they must attend throughout the semester. These take place on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights from 7-9pm and Sunday afternoon from 3-5pm in the study room with another sister as the "proctor" for that specific time. Incentives are given to sisters who proctor more than one study table, too. For the entire two hours, members are reading finishing homework, typing up papers, completing online work, etc. It is an excellent way to improve our academics and a great motivator for all the women who see one another studying. Members can have anywhere from 0-10 study tables to complete a semester, again depending on their GPA the previous semester. It’s just another great way to study, improve one’s grades, and also bond with one’s sisters!

    • Scholarship Points

Going above and beyond is always good, especially if you’re an Alpha Gam! For academics members who go above and beyond their required amount of Study Tables and Study Hours are awarded with points. These points are redeemed later in the semester when rooms are chosen. Studying, attending all required classes during the week, achieving a high GPA, getting and A or B on a test or quiz are all different ways Alpha Gams can receive scholarship points.
