Finally at long last I get to do a Legend website. For me, Legend was the first movie to ever spark my interest in costuming, but I never pursued it until I saw Lord of The Rings. Now even though this wasn't my original idea (I had always thought I'd end up doing a fan site) it is a wonderful oppertunity to pay hommage to this monumental movie. Its also very exciting to be the first one (to my knowledge) to do a site solely devoted to the costumes. There have been very few fan reproductions and as of right now there are no sites deconstructing the costumes. So hopefully this will become a jumping off point for many loyal fans to finally make their own reproductions. Right now I am only doing Lili's two costumes, but if anyone would like me to add the others or just needs some tips and screen caps (even something like how to make Oona's wings) please e-mail me or post on the message board your request. I hope you enjoy and appreciate it from one fan to another.

Jennifer's Yellow Lili Gown

"It was actually my wedding dress for my first wedding and was made for me by the mother of a friend, who has a degree in theatre costuming. She took a basic retail pattern (unfortunately, I don't remember what pattern it was) and used that as a base to modify and create her own pattern for Lily's dress based on pictures I printed out for her of Lily at various angles wearing the dress."

"As for materials, the overdress is made of an ivory brocade with a rose-patterned texture, while the underdress/chemise is made of white satin with a slight rough texture to it that subdues its shininess (I'm sure it has a specific name, but I don't know what it is). The girdle band at the waist/hips and the bands on the upper part of the sleeves are a wide ivory and gold ribbon type trim that came on a roll sold by the yard, but it was embellished on the dress by gold beads hand sewn along the embroidered gold pattern of the original trim. The part of the girdle/belt that extends down either side of the overdress is simply a gold braid, similar to what a belt might be made of."

"The large things at the bottom of these braids are my worst error in figuring out Lily's dress--I have no idea why, but I was convinced that the oblong things weighing down the long free ends of Lily's girdle/belt were gold bauble-like things, that they were solid objects something like extremely large beads. On my dress, they were a gold-painted wooden sphere with a hole drilled through it to pass the braid through, followed by a larger wooden egg-shape below the sphere with a similar hole through the middle. Admittedly, this did provide weight that helped the braids lay right, but I've since come to the more reasonable conclusion that these things on Lily's dress are actually *tassels*, not solid baubles, and I have no idea why I originally came to the conclusion I did."

  1. The following costume was made for Tarrah by a family member.
  2. In her own words this is what is made of, "the dress it made out
  3. of faux leather, the cape is satin, there is black netting, the thing
  4. around my head is made out of leather around a cut pice of a
  5. trash can".
