
Rev. Paul Ziegler(1847-1921) - Trinity 1872
Paul Ziegler was a Phi Beta Kappa and valedictorian of his class. He devoted his life to
Episcopalian ministry. He composed the original Landmarks and Ritual, wrote the Exoteric Manual, and
designed the Fraternity Badge. All four of his sons were Alpha Chi Rho men and ministers
in the Episcopal Church (Carl, Phi Psi; Howard, Phi Psi; Winfred, Phi Omega; and Eustice, Phi Gamma)
Rev. Carl Ziegler(1876-1967) - Phi Psi Trinity 1897
Also a Phi Beta Kappa, he too was an Episcopal minister and served as National Chaplain for many years.
Rev. William Herman Rouse(1866-1954) - Phi Psi Trinity 1896
First president of Phi Psi, he became a teacher who spent the later years of his life teaching English to Cuban
and the South American immigrants.
Rev. Herbert T. Sherriff(1876-1944) - Phi Psi Trinity 1897
A high school friend of Carl Ziegler's, he wrote the first part of the Fraternity's
history and made his career in public health in Oregon.
Rev. William A.D. Eardelay(1870-1936) - Phi Psi Trinity 1897
Also an Episcopalian minister, he later became a noted genealogist
who designed the Coat of Arms and was the first National President
of the Fraternity. He helped form Phi Chi and Phi Phi chapters.
