Course registration for new students

If you are a new International student, don't worry about course registration now. It is important to understand that here in the US all major decisions regarding your graduate education are taken after consulting your advisor. Choosing courses follows the same rule. If you are already an RA then the courses you enroll for are the ones that you and your advisor agree are best suited to help you in your research. Professors may or may not object to courses that you want to take and hence it is important that you engage him/her in this procedure. If you are a TA or are not funded you have considerable room to choose your own course. Even in such cases students usually are assigned temporary advisors whom they should consult and reach an agreement with.

Graduate levels courses begin either with a '5' or a '6' (e.g. MA 504, ME 509). Undergduate level (ie. 400 level and below) courses can also be taken but they are not counted in your plan of study. To get a full list of courses use the following this link. You can obtain detailed information regarding the courses on this webpage. To know if specific courses are being offered in that particular semester use this link. One can even check how many seats are available for each of the courses.
