EXAM II

Tues., Nov. 10, 3:00-4:15pm, PHYS 112

 

EXAM Information:

1.  Material covered in lecture from after Exam I through Nov. 5 (completion of plate tectonics – evidence for plate tectonics and driving mechanism for plate tectonics, earthquakes, volcanoes, oceanography section through Nov. 5)

          2.  You may use one 3”x5” study card

          3.  Format: short answer and multiple choice

 

Studying for the Exam:

1.  Study your notes first (assigned reading in the text should provide additional information and explanation; use the study guide for the text).

2.  Emphasis is on major concepts (when you see a section in your notes representing a significant portion of a lecture period, ask yourself, “can I describe this concept?”).

3.  Try to develop understanding and visualization, not memorization.

4.  Read questions carefully; be sure you know what is being asked before starting to answer.

          5.  Prepare your study card thoughtfully.

1.   Material presented in class through Sept. 24 (Intro section, Earth section through Plate Tectonics – except Evidence for Plate Tectonics and Driving Mechanism of Plate Tectonics discussions).

2.  September 5, 2009 – Revised Course Outline.  Please see the revised course outline – also will handed out in class on Tuesday, September 8 (http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~braile/eas100/outline.htm). The revised outline corrects a mistake in the schedule and includes a change in TA office hours. 

 

1.  August 25, 2009 – Welcome to Planet Earth, EAS 100! (also called EAS 10000, CRN 17524)  The Fall 2009 class meets in PHYS 112 Tuesday and Thursday from 3:00 – 4:15PM.  You can find course information online at the EAS 100 home page:
