Lecture Topics Brief Outlines

The following brief outlines provide information (main topics, associated reading in the textbook, specific textbook figures to study, and learning objectives) related to the lecture topics for EAS 100.  The outlines can be used to help focus on the most important material and concepts associated with each lecture and as an aid in note-taking during class.  Printing the outlines (optional; use the pdf files for printing) for use during class can help organize your note-taking.  The outlines include some space for writing additional notes based on the material presented in class.  Note that the topics presented in lecture will include additional details not included in the brief outlines, may be presented in a different order, and may be presented on a different day.  Furthermore, on days when a new handout (study guide, term paper assignment, homework assignments, etc.) is provided, there will be a brief discussion (not included in the outlines below) of the handout. The outlines are not a substitute for attending class or taking you own notes.  The outlines are organized according to the five major subject areas of the course (also see course outline): Introduction, Earth Science, Oceanography, Atmospheric Science, and Astronomy.
