Closeup of a part I am working on. The material is Japanese cyprus left over from the sculptures I build two years ago.. Because everthing shrinks when it is fired I have desided to sew the parts together using copper and stainless steel wire. the stainless wire is stronger and should withstand the firing. I suspect it will remain shiny so I plan to remove it after the firing. The copper should turn black during the firing . It will remain part of the sculpture. The sewing process starts with drilling small holes in each piece of wood to receive the wire. Every day from now until the firing on Sept 14th is going to be a day of discovery. Today I discovered three styles of stitching.
