Drawing of the Sumi oven. The bottom of the oven is to the left on the drawing. The two parallel lines indicate the area reserved for my sculptures in the next firing. My objects will be packed in fuel oil cans about 14x14x18 inches. I have been allotted a space for 12 of these cans in the top of the oven. The remainder of the oven will used to make cooking charcoal. I am told this is necessary to control the heat of the oven. |
