Welcome to the Purdue Chinese Calligraphy Club

Welcome to the Purdue Chinese Calligraphy Club homepage. Fall 2009 is our 13th semester in existence. We promise to expand the horizons of those who participate by introducing the art of Chinese Calligraphy, the highest form of art in Chinese culture. We meet once a week in BRNG B212 on Wednesdays at 7:30. Everyone is welcome to attend our meetings and learn a few characters, even without any artistic talent or prior knowledge of Chinese. We start fresh every meeting with a new character( you can see our progress on the articles page.) Don't worry about coming halfway through the semester, because everyone starts at square one with each new character. We will provide materials for practice, although you can buy your own for home practice. There are brushes, inkstones, ink sticks, nine square paper and Japanese rice paper avilable in the Graphic Arts Department at the University Book Store near the Union . See you there!

About this website
The Chinese Calligraphy Club has become very technology oriented over the years. Our lessons are conducted via projector in the classrooms, the database of chinese characters are managed online(in the articles section) and now we have an increasingly interactive website.

What you can do on this site :
As a member, you can create an account, post your best work in the "member's artwork" section, upload pictures from our events into the image gallery, and chat in our bulletin board. So what are you waiting for?
