Need a ride to Silver Dipper?

I know you all are planning on coming to Silver Dipper tonight at 9 PM! But maybe you live on campus and don’t have a car…wouldn’t it be great if we could carpool?

Well…

We can!

Meet at the Promise Place for a ride! We’ll leave at about 8:50 to get some wonderful delicious ICE CREAM and say a final goodbye to everyone!

See you tonight,

Dave

Big Brothers/Big Sisters HOOT = Cookout!!

The last HOOT of the school year is this Thursday, April 24th. It’s going to be the best and hopefully the biggest of all the HOOTs! We want you to make every effort to be there so we can share in some outreach and fellowship together before we all go our own ways for the summer!

We’ll be entertaining a group of unpaired little brothers at Pickett Park (see below if you’re not yet familiar), playing volleyball, catch, Frisbee, football & maybe even a little game of SPUD. Also, we’ll be grilling some hot juicy burgers! And hot dogs!

What you need to know is this.

Meet at Pickett Park at 6:30 - come and go as you like
(far corner of the intramural fields, it’s on the south side of Stadium Avenue about where it intersects McCormick road). I’m trying a long google map link, hopefully it works!

I would guess that some people would be interested in meeting beforehand and walking / riding over together from either the Light House or the Promise Place at like 6:00.

HOOT Game Night/Care Packages

Hey Everyone,

This week for HOOT we’re going to be playing games at the Promise Place at 7:00 and we’re also helping the youth group by making care packages for the Kossuth freshman that are away at college. The plan is to meet at the Promise Place at 7:00, we’ll play some games, make some cookies, put the packages together, then play some more games or whatever.
So, if you’re willing to bring some cookie dough, or something else you think a student would like to receive in a care package, can you email me as soon as possible to let me know, that way we know what all we need to pick up before Thursday.

When: Friday, April 11th 6:30 PM
Where: Kossuth Street Baptist Church
Why: to honor the seniors!
Wearing: casual dressy- guys: khakis, collared shirt, girls- nice capris and shirt, skirts, or a sundress kind of thing
Theme: Hawaiian extravaganza
Cost: Price depends on how many come, but it should be one of those numbers under 10 (seniors, you have enough college debt accumulated, so we’ll pay for your meal)

More specifics on price will come later as people sign up- which brings me to… SIGN UP! Reply back to me and tell me you are coming as soon as possible.

Let me know if you have any other questions, seriously guys- you will not want to miss this! We’ve got some delicious food and fun stuff planned!

Have a great and beautiful afternoon!

formal dinner- mark your calendars!

Salt and Light!

The end of the year is approaching, and that means so is our annual formal dinner! This is a time where we can all get together, eat some yummy food, and honor the seniors who will (sadly) not be around next year! The formal dinner will be Friday, April 11th at 6:30 PM at Kossuth. More details will come a little later, but make sure to free this night up!! This year we have some new and interesting entertainment planned that you will not want to miss. (Also, don’t be deterred by the “formal” part, it doesn’t mean prom dresses and tuxes).

Have a great week!

Spring Retreat

Hey Everyone,

As promised here’s the info on the spring retreat this weekend. If you didn’t sign up during Sunday school please email me and let me know that you are coming, I need to know a number for food.

Date: April 4-5 (this weekend!)
Location: Zimmerman’s (they are a couple at the church)
Cost: $5-10 (depending on the number of people that sign up)
Speaker: Matt Borg, he’s speaking on the cost of discipleship
Meeting Time: meet at 5:30, make sure you eat supper before you come.
What to Bring: sleeping bag (we have a few extra so if you don’t have one just let me know), pillow, bible, notebook, change of clothes, the normal stuff you’d need for an overnight trip. Bring warm clothes for the evening, we’re planning on staying in tents.
Speaking of tents, if you have one here that we could use please let me know.

If you can only come for part of the weekend that’s ok so if you have to work just come when you can, we’re going to be around Lafayette so it won’t be too much of a drive, let me know and I can get you directions. The retreat is a great opportunity to dive deeper into God’s word and to get to know other people in salt and light, you don’t want to miss out.

Ultimaaaaaate Frisbeeeeeee!

That’s right folks! Now that it’s warm out, it’s time to break out the frisbees and play our first game of ultimate frisbee for the year!

“But Dave,” you say, “Doesn’t the forecast call for rain that day?”

The answer is…maybe. But this is Indiana. As far as we know, it could be -20 degrees outside, the clouds pelting unsuspecting Hoosiers with chunks of ice. Or better yet, 70 and sunny. Who can say? So in light of how unpredictable God made our weather, we have a backup plan. Regardless of what happens, we’ll meet up at the Promise Place at 7 PM Thursday. If it’s raining or the ground is a swamp, we’ll simply hold a game night and imagine that we’re playing ultimate frisbee.

Also: stay tuned for more information on the Spring Retreat from Amanda. Plan ahead and free up your weekend as much as possible so you can make it! (Friday night through Saturday afternoon)

Happy E-week everyone,

Dave

Better late than never?

Hi Salt and Light,

So it is now Wednesday night, and we STILL haven’t received an email about what we are doing for HOOT tomorrow, huh?

I know what you are thinking.

LAME.

*Sorry*

Tomorrow evening, in light of the fact that we will be partying it up at the church tomorrow for the lock-in, we are going to go out to dinner.
Bruno’s pizza…7pm

Meet at the promise place at 6:45 if you want a ride or want to drive others.
Otherwise meet us at Bruno’s (On the Levee)

May you dream of Bruno Dough all day in class tomorrow.
Jason

WOW! YAY! FUN!

Not only is e-week next week…the LOCK-IN is this weekend!! Yes, this Friday we are staying up all night for some fun times!!

It’s going to be held at Kossuth on Friday night at 8 pm. Don’t miss it! Bring friends. It’s a great time of fellowship, cool games, worship, not cool games like halo, snacking, and there is talk of a skit night/talent show/whatever we think of in the middle of the night… so come with ideas!!

Even if you can’t stay the whole night, just drop in whenever you can.
And sing happy bday to Amanda Holderman. It’s required.

***Guys please bring 2 liters and girls bring snacks/desserts***
Also, if anyone has TV’s that they could bring along, we could use those too!
Thanks, see you there!!

Julie
