Companion's Grove LARP started a few years ago as an Amtgard group. Members attend several Amtgard events and followed Amtgard rules.

After a short time as Amtgard, the members decided to break away and form their own rules and style of game play. The first rules system for CGLARP was written by Molly Alley and Tre Bindewald. This system found inspiration from Amtgard, SCA, and Dungeons & Dragons. It went through several revisions during it's time.

In early 2004, the system began undergoing a major facelift. Spearheaded by Elgin Kupferer and Angela Butler, the entire club contributed to the new rules. Currently these are still being ironed out.
