General Announcements

CGLARP is starting up for the year!:

We're trying out a formatted weekly e-mailing to keep everyone up to date on events. There will also be announcements at Mid-Week and Saturday meetings, and all of these will be posted on the website.

If you or anyone you know are interested in recieving weekly emails from CGLARP, please have them send an email to cglarp@yahoo.com with their full name and email address.

Survey Says:

We're still waiting for some answers on the survey we sent out. Please let us know:

  • Are you coming back? Do you still want to be in the club? Do you still want to receive emails?
  • The Mid-Week Meeting day that's best for you. Tues, Wed, or Thurs? We have events planned on Wed because so far the most people said it was a good day. There's a possiblity we will alternate.
  • Can you work the Activities Fair? (See below for more info. on this.)

Errata, the New Rules on the Block:

We have changed the rules on the Absorb ability... again. These will be made available shortly. Please contact Elgin with questions.

Do you have a RPG, LARP or Table Top, that you're running? Or you're really good friend's running? Need players? Think that Other members of CG LARP would enjoy it? Then get it advertised! For only the small cost of FREE, you can have your game announced on the website, in announcement emails, and at weekly club meetings! Just email cglarp@yahoo.com with the game name, a brief description, times & locations. If you want contact information posted please make a note of that as well.

Callout's on Wed Sept 8th this semester, running between 7 and 9 in STEW 214C. We have the room 6-10pm for set-up, cleanup and general stuff. More info later.

Newbie School, established 2003:

This will be held Sept 11th, the Sat after call-out. If this is a bad date for you, please send an email to cglarp@yahoo.com and we will work out an alternative. More info later.

Other RPG Games:

One World By Night (Vampire LARP):

Usual meetings on the first and third Fridays of the month, @ ~7:30 on the Pedestrian Bridge at the bottom of the hill. They have the books, welcome all, and can help with character creation and rule explanations. For further info, anyone is free to contact Jason Coleman. He hopes to see many of the club members there!

Forms & Club Duties

New Treasurer:

Unfortunately, Yen Tran was unable to be our treasurer this year. However, Liz Nichols graciously agreed to take on the position. Thanks again, Liz!

New DM Staff members:

We're extremely excited to add Miles Hatem and Jason Lilovich to our DMing staff for Companion's Grove LARP. Miles has also recently been approved as an armor inspector, too.

Helper Monkies! (aka Apprentice DMs):

CGLARP is also really, really excited that Chris Jungling and Daniel Marthaler have agreed to be Apprentice DMs for us. In this role they will assist the DMs in several ways, including leading bands of monster NPCs. If anyone is interested in becoming an Apprentice DM, please send an application email to cglarp@yahoo.com or talk to Elgin Kupferer.

Forms, forms, forms:

Please remember that everyone will be expected to sign a waiver for the semester before they may engage in combat. This includes sparring with club weapons. We're also adding a few more bits of paperwork this year, but you'll get more info on those later.

Website, website, web-site *to conga music*:

The new website is up and running. *Ta-da!* Email Angela at ambutler@purdue.edu with issues.

Also, Angela needs bio info to put on the Officers & Staff page from the following people right now: (some are on the page multiple times (positions listed after name) and it's up to you if you want different bios for each position.)

  • Angela Butler: President, DM, & Webmaster

  • Chris Jungling: Apprentice DM, Photographer & Club Monkey (just kidding, the monkey part isn't on the page)

Please contact Angela (ambutler@purdue.edu) if you're on the list. Or pester the people on the list until they do. Also if you want to have a picture posted, or a better picture posted, please email the pic to Angela. (100 x 100 pixel, limit)

Travel to Hortintal... once it's finished:

The following people need to please, please, please email their world stuff, either here or in the case of large files to Angela (ambutler@purdue.edu).

  • Rei Kevin (Southeastern Province)
  • Andy Germain (North Central Province)
  • Elgin Kupferer (Central Main Province)

If you can't find the info, or can't finish the area, please type up all you can remember (general notes) and send them to Angela. We'll advertise for someone to clean them up.

Also a big, big thank you to Miles who agreed to take on the Northeastern Territory for us. Yippee! Hooray!

That wraps it up for now. If you have any announcements that would be of interest to club members, be it games or events or whatever, email cglarp@yahoo.com with Announcement Request in the subject line. Not all announcements will get out immediately, but we'll try.

Have a Great Day!!!
