Chauncey Celebrates 70 Years |
| Approximately 40 alumni attended the 70th reunion on September 15, 2007. The attendance was considerably lower than 2002 when over 100 alumni attended the banquet. The Men of Chauncey prepared lunch, provided rides to and from the stadium and erected a tent for the evening meal in the backyard and certainly enjoyed hearing stories from the good old days. Indiana State Justice Brent Dickson, 1964 house alumnus, inspired the group with a few words after the evening meal. Instead of waiting 5 years for another reunion, we are going to have an open house at next year's homecoming game. The date for the 4th alumni golf outing will be Saturday, June 14, 2008 at the Ackerman Course on the Purdue campus. Many repairs have been completed so far this year. Recently the floor on the back porch was replaced (thanks to Wayne Singleton' 66) and the gutters repaired (thanks to Mark Diekman, 70). Floor jacks were added to stabilize the floor in the dining and living room (thanks to Mack Strickland, ASM professor). Residents of the House just completed a remodeling of the downstairs bathroom, and the island in the kitchen was revitalized. The bum room ceiling was replaced and attic was cleaned out. Currently we have 8 members in the $1,000 donation club and several alumni are close. These alumni are proudly displayed on a plaque in the living room of Chauncey. |
