Ode to Mother
A Poem from the Tang dynasty
performed by G.W.S
慈母手中线,
游子身上衣。
临行密密缝,
意恐迟迟归。
谁言寸草心,
报得三春晖。
The poet, Meng Jiao, far away from his home town to pursue a career, sang a tribute to his mother when reminded how she had carefully made clothes for him on the eve of his departure. He compared himself to a tiny grass leaf, wondering: "How could a tiny grass ever repay for the warm sun shine in the Spring?"
