I hope you all had a fabulous weekend! We raised $92 dollars at our Frozen for Eliminate Scavenger Hunt fundraiser this weekend, that’s 51 tetanus vaccine series for expecting mothers and their babies! I am so proud of all of you that worked on this event to make it such a success! We were also able to write 25 holiday greeting letters to soldiers overseas, we will be handing them over to the Red Cross on Monday and they will send them off! We also completed over 40 hours of service this weekend! You guys rock!
Holiday Party: In lieu of a meeting on this week on Tuesday at 6:30pm in Lawson B155, we will be having a Christmas Party! We will be having food, hot chocolate, a small craft, service awards and we will be doing White Elephant gifts! Please be sure to keep your gift under $5, and wear an ugly holiday sweater if you have one! This will be a great stress reliever before finals start, and it will be nice to see everyone before we leave for the winter break! We also have a few extra spots for Salvation Army Bell ringing, so you can sign up for your time slot at the party!
Service Projects: We will be having our regular service projects throughout dead week and finals week! However, please respect your fellow student’s need to study, so if a driver is not signed up for a project we will not be able to offer transportation during this time.
Counseling and Psychological Services: With the stress of dead week and finals, it’s very easy to get overwhelmed. Keep in mind that you’re only human and you can only handle so much stress. If you feel that you need to talk to someone other than a friend or family member, Purdue Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) offers students 6 free sessions per semester. If you feel you need to make an appointment, don’t hesitate. Call (765) 494-6995 to make an appointment and for more information. We’ve got less than two weeks to go, we’ve got this, guys!!
MLK Day of Service: Every year, Circle K teams up with the Boiler Volunteer Network to help serve our community as a way to honor the hard work done by Martin Luther King Jr. This day of service will be on Monday, January 19th 8:30am and we will meet in the Black and Gold Gym in the CoRec. The deadline to sign up for this event is Monday, January 12th at 10pm on our club sign ups. Since this is not occurring until next semester, this is more of a save the date, and I will email you guys once we open up the sign ups for this!
Fun Fact: The coldest temperature ever recorded in the world was -128 degrees Celsius, in Vostok Station in Antarctica in 1983.
Hope you all have a great week, good luck on presentations and lab exams this week!!
