assist you if you need any additonal help coping with the loss of your companion animal.
Results of the pet loss study will be posted here when I am done looking at the data. However, since I have recieved so many responses this will take a while. Feel free to email me with any questions, comments, or concerns.
NOTE: Data collection for the current study has stopped and the data is currently being analyzed. However, we will continue to collect information for future studies and the survey will continue to be open for people to participate.

Pet Attachment and Grief

Purpose of Research: The purpose of this study to understand the relationship between pet attachment and the grief owners experience when their pet dies.
Specific Procedures to be Used: Included in this packet are demographic questions, and questionnaires which focus on your relationship with your pet, and your thoughts and feelings related to your pet’s death. To complete the survey online click on the link “pet loss survey” which will take you to the questionnaire.
Duration of Participation: The completion of the survey will take 10 - 15 minutes to complete.
Benefits to the Individual: There are no obvious benefits from participating in this study.
Risks to the Individual: The risks involved in participation are no more than would be encountered in everyday life.
Confidentiality: The privacy and confidentiality of your responses will be protected through multiple methods. You are not asked to provide your name or any identifying material other than general demographic information. All completed data will be downloaded into a secured web server only to be viewed by the researcher. In addition IP addresses will not be collected. Participate responses will be evaluated and presented collectively, rather than individually. The data will be kept indefinitely, but that it will only be used for the purposes indicated above. Research records may be inspected by the Purdue University Institutional Review Board or its designees, and (as allowable by law) state and federal agencies.
Voluntary Nature of Participation: You do not have to participate in this research project. If you agree to participate, you can withdraw your participation at any time without penalty.
