Rules For
Indoor Cricket League
RULES:
1. Arrive at the Armory AT LEAST 15 minutes before the start of
your game. If a minimum of 5
players from the team are not present 10 minutes from the scheduled start
time of your game, you will FORFEIT the game automatically. NO EXCEPTIONS will
be made. Also, if the team is late by more than 5 minutes, then the opposing
team wins the toss automatically, and the team that is late will have overs docked from their batting innings @ 1 over for every
4 mins delay.
2. Umpire’s decisions are final. Any argument with an umpire
will lead to the player being disqualified. Any physical conflicts in the
Armory will be reported to Purdue Police immediately.
3. Each team shall comprise of a minimum nine (9) players and
each team is required to submit the team rosters (complete list of players that
will be playing for the team at any point in the tournament) to the Tournament
Organizing Committee (TOC) while registering for the tournament.
4. NO SMOKING within 30 feet of the Armory
is enforced. Any player caught breaking this rule will be DISQUALIFIED
immediately.
5. Entry fee for a team is $100
6. No player can play for more than one team.
7. Any team that gives a walkover will be penalized 4 points and
refused entry into the next edition of Indoor League.
Format for the Indoor League
1. Teams will be split into two groups for the Natraj Iyer Memorial Fall '08
tournament starting Fall 2008. Each team will play against all
the other teams in their group in round-robin format(4-5
preliminary stage matches depending on the group).
2. Top 2 teams in each group will advance to the Semifinals. The
top team in Group A will play the second placed team of Group B while the top
team of Group B will play the runners-up of Group A. The winners from the
respective semifinal contests will square up in the final.
Playing Conditions
1. All games will be 15 overs a side.
2. Each bowler can bowl a maximum of four overs.
Chucking is a no-no. Umpires will be strict on chuckers.
No mini-overs will be allowed. If a bowler starts an
over, the same bowler will have to complete the over unless he is injured in
the course of play and is unable to continue bowling.
3. An over can be terminated if the bowler is injured and cannot
continue bowling. The over can be completed by another bowler from the bowling
side.
4. Bye-Runner is allowed for a batsman only if the player is
injured in the course of play or if it is extremely clear that the player
cannot run. A player will normally not be allowed a bye-runner to accomodate a prior injury. If a player needs a bye-runner
to accomodate a prior injury, it should be brought to
the notice of the umpire and the opposing team captain. Allowing a bye-runner
is the umpire's call.
5. Each team is required to complete its quota of 15 overs within 55 minutes. If
the team bowling does not complete its quota of 15 overs
within 55 minutes, the team will be penalized 3 runs per ball remaining to be
bowled.
6. Batsman can be given out Leg Before
Wicket. Leg byes are allowed.
7. At least ONE fielder plus the wicketkeeper are required to be
behind the stumps at all times. At the most TWO fielders are allowed to be
behind the yellow line (corresponding to inner circle in real cricket field).
Failure to comply with this rule will result in a no-ball call).
8. In the event of a 2-way tie in the number of points between
teams, head to head results will be considered and the winner will proceed to
the next round. In the event of a 3-way (or more) tie in the
number of points between teams, if head-to-head results cannot decide a clear
winner, Net Run-Rate will be considered.
9. A team's net run rate is calculated
by deducting from the average runs per over scored by that team, the average
runs per over scored against that team. For a more detailed explanation on
calculating the Net Run Rate (NRR) for a team please refer to
10. Winning a match = 4 points. If a match is tied, both teams
will be awarded 2 point each.
11. Ball hitting on the side walls (includes sand and concrete
block) without bouncing on the ground or ceiling will be awarded 2 runs. Ball
hitting on the end wall directly = 6 runs. Ball hitting any object placed near
end wall obstructing it from reaching the boundary = 4 runs. In case of any
controversy, umpire's decision will be the final one.
12. Each team will be given two new balls with which to complete
their quota of 15 overs. The balls can be changed at
any time during the game by the bowling team. In case the taping on ball gets damaged the
umpire can request the bowling team to change the ball immediately.
13. In case a match in progress cannot be completed on the
scheduled day due to Armory timings or any other factor, the match will be
continued on a subsequent day and time agreed to by the two playing team
captains. The match will not be replayed.
14. NEW RULE: The immediate next ball following a
front foot no ball delivered by the bowler will be free hit for the batting
team. A batsman can still be run out during a free hit.
