Located right next to Grant Park, the Art Institute of Chicago is a must visit for art lovers. The institute ws founded in 1866 and had success until 1871, when the Great Chicago Fire destroyed their building. The institute would not become successful again until the 1890s.

The institute is widely known for its American and Impressionist art. The collection includes painting by Van Gogh, Monet, Renoir, Cézanne. Some of the most famous paintings located at the Art Institute of Chicago include Van Gogh's Self-Portrait, Grant Wood's American Gothic, Edward Hopper's Nighthawks, and Georges-Pierre Seurat's Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte.
