Lincoln Park is the second major park located in Chicago. Like Grant, Lincoln is also along Lake Michigan. Began as a cemetary, the city turned Lincoln Park into a park in 1864. All the families of the dead allowed the bodies to be moved except for one, Ira Couch is still intered in a mausoleum in the park. To this day, when construction takes place in the park, bodies are found. Lincoln Park holds the only zoo in Chicago that has free admission. The zoo has 1250 animals and is open year-round. Also, the park is known for its statues. Lincoln Park has statues of Abe Lincoln, Ulysses S. Grant, Alexander Hamilton, Shakespeare, Hans Christian Andersen, and many more.
