Chicago is a city that is very serious about its baseball. Most baseball loving citizens are either a Sox fan or a Cubs fan, very few are both.

The White Sox are one of the original American League teams that started in 1900. They won a World Series in 1906(over the Cubs) and 1917. But there quick glory was brought crashing down in 1919 with the Black Sox Scandal. In 1919, the players threw the World Series, which they were heavily favored to win, when they bacame angered at the owner, Charles Comisky. The White Sox would not win another World Series until 2005.

Chicago has long been known as a "Cubs Town," but with the recent winning of the World Series, the White Sox have shown everyone that they are a new power to fear. If the White Sox continue to do well, maybe Chicago will be known as a "White Sox Town."
