JOIN STAFF

 

 

Debris is a perfect place gain workplace experience for both publishing and marketing industries. We are always looking for photographers, writers, editors, and salespeople to help with production of the yearbook.

Weekly meetings are held on Mondays at 7:00 p.m. in our office, Stewart Center room B6. Stop by, or email our managing editor, Emily Heiser, at ehheiser@purdue.edu.

JOB DESCRIPTIONS

Section editors
Section editors are responsible for organizing, creating, and designing a section of the Debris. Sections include athletics, academics, student life, organizations, housing, Greek life, and senior album. The section editor determines what content will be on each spread, assigns the topics to writers and photographers, creates the page layouts, and is responsible for meeting page deadlines.

Photographers
Debris photographers accept assignments from section editors and the photography manager to cover various events on campus. Photographers can use their own cameras or use Debris equipment. Douglas Studios, our senior portrait photographer, will also provide photography training sessions each semester to the photography staff.

Marketers
The Marketing staff reports to the marketing manager and is responsible for selling the Debris. This includes brainstorming marketing ideas, creating marketing materials, working at various sale dates and marketing events, and otherwise promoting the yearbook.

Staff writers
Writers accept story assignments from the section editors and usually accompany the photographers to cover various campus events. Writers conduct interviews, get information for captions, and help the section editors meet their deadlines.

Web designer
The Web designer is responsible for creating, maintaining, and updating the Debris website.
