Recent News

Philanthropy

Brothers Peter Kroner and Reston Rawlings were able to arrange for Michael Eckhart, president of the American Council On Renewable Energy (ACORE), to join us for a formal dinner during Old Masters. The associate members served the food and beverages to the brothers as well as Mr. Eckhart and several other Old Master hosts and hostesses. The formal dinner was followed by a presentation from Mr. Eckhart concerning his company and the future as far as renewable resources.

Social

Barndance was held in the beginning of October and was a huge success this year as always. We would like to thank Brothers Reston and Ranan Rawlings for once again allowing us to use their facilities. We would also like to thank the newly initiated associate member class for helping with the preparation and clean up after the dance.

New IFC rules and regulations have nearly squelched the functions we once knew. Nearly all social events are now fraternity-sorority functions only and typical “floor parties.” Socials Zack Pierce and Michael Herbers worked diligently to combat these changes and did so successfully.

Associate Members

The associate members played in the Kimball football match against the brothers on a bitterly cold Sunday in either late October or early November. As expected the game was rather lopsided favoring the brothers.

Recent House Projects

Basement Improvements

The floor in the basement was redone over the summer and looks outstanding. The fourth floor bathroom was also renovated. Both renovations to the house look outstanding. Thanks to Brother Tom Edson for being the liaison between the house and the contractors on this extensive renovation.

Possible Future Projects

Renovating Bathrooms

We have recently renovated a few of our bathrooms, but there are still three that are quite outdated. We are going to get rid of the old, ugly tile and counter tops and update it to match our other bathrooms. Our new bathrooms are very impressive, well maintained and have helped greatly with rush and we look forward to updating all of them.

New Roof

It is time to replace the roof of the house. It is going to be an expensive project and we do not have the funds to replace it yet. This project is a very high priority and needs to be done as soon as possible.

DJ Booth

We have recently purchased new DJ equipment and to make it last, we need to build a DJ booth of some sort to protect it. Eventually we are interested in having a fully functional DJ booth so we can save money and DJ our own parties.

Grand-Prix Car

The house has missed out on racing in the Grand Prix race for the last three years now because we don't have a car. We have many gear heads ready and capable of putting a car together, but estimates put it at about five thousand dollars to build a car. If we had a cart in the race it would bring the house together and be a great opportunity for alumni to come back and cheer the Delta Chi cart on to victory.

Donations

Thank you for making a donation to the house. We appreciate donations to Delta Chi Nationals and the Delta Chi Education Foundation, but if you would like to donate specifically to the Purdue chapter it will be greatly appreciated. Without alumni support we would not be able to do many of the house improvements or events we enjoy here at Purdue.
