A seminar on the formal gramatical properties of AAE.

Span 562 Spanish Morpho-Syntax

Syntactic properties of Spanish. Generative framework.

Ling 560 Service Learning in Languages & Linguistics

This course aims to introduce the student to critical reflective thinking and experiential learning that address local and global needs and foster civic responsibility.

Ling 576 Latin American Indigenous Languages & Cultures

This course addresses the diversity of Latin American indigenous languages and cultures as well as their value within the global context.

Ling 598 Native American Languages

An introduction to the indigenous languages of the Americas, main linguistic families and most salient grammatical properties.

IDIS 590 Global Collaborations

A critical exploration of what it means to collaborate with global partners in a respectful and equal-to-equal way. It prepares students to participate in a meaningful Study Abroad experience, as well as to process their past experience.

Honors and Special Projects

Undergraduate students wishing to have a more hands-on approach to a linguistics project may participate in any of the on-going research projects as part of and Honors project or as a research internship (Engl 494, Ling 499 or WILKE internships). Other Teaching

@URACCAN University (Nicaragua)

In collaboration with URACCAN (the University for the Atlantic Coast of Nicaragua), I developed a series of four courses on the Mayangna language directed to the students in their Bachelor’s Degree for Intercultural Education.

Workshops

I have also developed several workshops for the teachers of the Bilingual Education Program in Nicaragua on the grammatical properties of the Mayangna language.
