Movies

I love movies, especially ones that make me think, make me scared, make me happy, make me energized, or leave me in awe. A good movie should never fail to enertain you. Though I've watched countless movies in my lifetime, only a select group have I really liked.

Therefore, below is my current list of my favorite movies, although many of the movies move up or down the list based on my current mood and attitude.

1. Bad Boys II - Most agree that this is a good movie, but few would rank it #1. The movie is incredibly over produced, from the celebrity cast, to the all-star soundtrack manged by Dr. Dre and Sean "Puffy" Combs. However, the plotline is incredibly engaging, the acting (Will Smith, Martin Lawrence) is quite good, and it features everything a guy could want: fast cars, beautiful women, intense chase scenes, and lots of destruction. Overall, from the music, acting, plotline and features, this one tops the list.

2. Boondock Saints - Another man's movie, Boondock Saints is one of those rare movies that wasn't done by Hollywood all-stars. Instead, it was a rather low-budget, with actors few had heard of. That is, until the movie hit shelves. Boondock Saints quickly became one of the most popular movies, with a great plotline and also an interesting message. The gunfights are also quite well done.

3. Pirates of the Caribbean - Nearly everyone has this movie somewhere on their list, for me, it's #3. Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) is possibly the best person they could have put in this movie, as he plays the pirate role to perfection. Also, Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) adds a nice guest feature. The plotline is incredibly engaging, and the movie is also quite amusing. The humor is quite well timed, and it flows along with the movie. Overall, one of the best movies.

4. Black Hawk Down - Another war movie, Black Hawk Down is about the conflict in Somalia. The acting is well done, the music is fitting of the movie, and the battle scenes are perfect. The plotline follows the actual events quite well, and the movie makes you feel as though you actually experienced the battles. However, some parts make you feel the horrors of war almost too much, notably the failed clamping of the femoral artery of a wounded US soldier.

5. Fight Club - Fight Club is one of the most interesting movies ever filmed. The plotline is quite provocative, the filming is also quite revolutionary. The plot twist is completely unexpected, and the message is also quite stunning. The fight scenes are well done, and the humor is also well timed. Definitely a must-see movie.

6. Shrek II - Dreamworks follows up the popular Shrek with a sequel that tops the original. The plot is quite humorous, and the voice acting (Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz) fits the characters well. The incorporation of many Disney classics also makes the movie interesting. The DVD also has useful and fun bonus features, which is always good.

7. Finding Nemo - Another classic, Finding Nemo is one of the heartwarming films that many watch to feel good. The plotline is engaging, the voice acting is great, the art is quite fitting. Also, the balance of comedic and serious lines is perfect. Also, there are some quite amusing bonus scenes.

8. The Fast & The Furious - Another guy's movie that features fast cars, The Fast & The Furious is unique from the standpoint that it was essentially the first movie about street racing that spawned an entire style of movie. The acting (Vin Diesel) is good, the cars are incredible, and the plotline is the best out of the series.

9. Animal House - Who can forget the college classic, Animal House? Another film that was originally low budget, Animal House is perhaps one of the funniest movies ever made. The plotline, although quite random, is also very interesting. The comedic stunts and pranks performed by the fraternity, however, definitely make this a memorable movie.

10. Boiler Room - If you say you haven't heard of this movie before, I wouldn't blame you. However, the plotline is quite interesting, and the idea of a stock scam also makes any investor think twice. The fast cars and flaunting of wealth make the movie fun to watch, and the plot keeps you coming back for more.
