ALIAS - I bought myself a "it's the end of summer" gift for myself... I bought the entire Season 2 of Alias. I am so excited.... haha.. you know I give it a great score. Almost 1,000 minutes of pure genius, suspense.. and.. okay.. I'll stop being obsessive. (3.9/4.0)
Lady in the Water - I'm a huge M. Night buff, as many of you know. This wasn't his best film... very original and captivating plot... Night is an excellent story-teller.. using great cinematography and movie scoring. Over 30 minutes longer than all of his previous films, I think the film lacked enough story. The characters weren't developed as much as he did in his other films. Other than that, an excellent film. As with all of his films, it leaves you with a sense of wonder... the ending was done beautifully. It's not everyday you get an entire theater holding its breath. (3.6/4.0)
Spaceballs (1987) - The classic Mel Brooks movie spoofing the ever-popular Star Wars movies. A must-see for those in a dumb mood to laugh. Dark Helmet: What's the matter, Colonel Sandurz? CHICKEN? hahaha... (3.5/4.0)
Listened--> You Rasie Me Up Josh Groban - I transferred and organized all of my music onto my new laptop. I've basically been listening to all of it....
Reading--> Wicked Gregory Maguire - Sometimes this book is just really hard to get into... but still not a bad read.
Long time, no update. Tell me about it. I wonder how often I will update during the school year, when I actually have stuff that I should be doing... who knows. Anyway, here's your highly-anticipated update...
So, I came home last weekend. Ate dinner at the oven-less Speakman household (which was awesome, as always). Saw Lady in the Water (see above review) with all my pals. Played some block game that definitely qualified as an engineer's type of game lol. Too bad some stupid doctor beat me. Went back to that stupid doctor's house and got less than four hours of sleep. Woke up and went to the RCA Championships with my family (see ALBUM for pics sometime soon. Got to see the #1 and #2 American men's tennis players play live before my eyes. I'm still smiling about it. My sister and I got both Roddick's and Blake's autographs, which was definitely awesome. (Karen, I will make a shout out to you for knowing who those people are lol!)
As mentioned before, I got myself a new lappy. Dell Inspiron 1505. It's awesome. I've been changing all the setting, formatting it, and transferring data to it like all week. I'm finally almost done. I love it.
I presented my "engine course" to my section meeting this past week. I wasn't terribly nervous, until I got in there and realized that I had to present this trivial stuff to all of these engineers. Stupid me... I forgot to bring in water, too. I got some positive feedback, though, and a lot of compliments. I guess it was good enough because it seems I'm presenting it to a few other section meetings before I leave. I'm also meeting with the division manager, I think, to go over what I did. I'm nervous for that lol...
My advisor at work is having his first born child... well.. not him, but his wife is. I called Tracie and my Mom today for help in buying a gift. I got a lot of interesting stares in there as I was shopping in the infant section. Haha... No, I'm not a father.. or I don't think so at least.. joke!.. Okay, back to the story... Well, my advisor doesn't know the sex of his child yet, and do you know how hard it is to find something that isn't blue or pink for a baby? Well, it's quite difficult if you didn't know. I ended up buying a Pooh Fleece Blanket... of course heat indexes are 110 degrees out here right now.. but, s/he'll need a blanket sooner or later, I suppose.
This weekend was the Caterpillar "Power Parade," where they gave a huge demonstration of their huge power equipment. I've already seen the demo, but Eric asked if I wanted to go with his family, so I went. It was really hot... especially sitting on bleachers.. but there was free water and popcorn. We saw some extra water and popcorn come out of a kid in front of us... ya.. gross, I know. But I'll post pictures of the parade soon in the album. Thanks, Eric, for allowing me to tag along!
So, my roommate cuts his own hair here, so that he doesn't have to go find and pay someone to cut it. Well, he rinsed off in our shower, naturally. Let me tell you about our showers.. the drain.. drains very slowly. And, well, if you get hair down there... it doesn't drain at all and creates a nasty mix. I couldn't shower in there for four days... (I used the other shower, don't worry.) Let's just say DRAIN-O works great lol. I dunno why I had to throw all of this in here, but there ya go.
Geez, I have a lot to talk about this week. Last thing, I promise. Well, Cat offered me a part-time "job" at the Lafayette plant for during the school year. I don't know a lot of details yet, but I'm thinking about taking it. I'm just worried about the amount of work and how I'm going to schedule in work time around classes and meetings. I mean, last semester, I was up at 8 and not finished with things until 2 in the morning. But, I'm not taking four EE classes this semester... I dunno yet. I still need to get details on the matter. I'll keep you posted.
Coming up... Home on August 12th... Moving to my apartment August 16th (applications for help are being taken)... Purdue Starts August 21st... NEWSFLASH: end of summer is here...

kyle--> That's cool that CAT offered you a part time job. What would you be doing? That's also really awesome that you got those signatures, man. I bet you were really pumped. I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying your laptop. Laptops are always a good time. Glad your presentation went well!
hm, I think I commented on pretty much everything... everything I could remember you talked about anyway. Later, man.
Tracie--> Now can I comment? Good. I'm glad you're coming home soon...basically because that means it's my birthday. And I'm totally pumped for your apartment and the bathtub I get to sleep in. :-) I think you should take the job at CAT this fall because if school stuff starts to overload you, you can always explain that to your boss and ask for a leave of absense. Just my two cents.

CARS - As most critics said, "It's not Pixar's best," but I thought it was very well done. The animation was unbelievable... The only horrible part of the movie was a country artist ruining a great song... (3.5/4.0)
Superman Returns - Visually stunning movie.. but I thought it lacked a focus on plot.. was better than expected though... (3.0/4.0)
Pirates of the Carribean Dead Man's Chest - Best movie of the summer.. and audiences seem to agree. It earned more money in its opening weekend.. than any other movie.. ever.. even with inflation.. Great action.. good humor.. Good set up for a thrill next year's Memorial Day weekend. (3.8/4.0)
Listened--> Decemberunderground AFI - It's still in my CD player...
Reading--> Wicked Gregory Maguire - Haven't gotten very far...
Once again, it's been a while for an update from me... but i'm sure you're used to that by now.
Work's been going well. You'd be bored if I told you the details. We did go to the Catperpillar Demonstration Center. We got to see all of their huge equipment do cool stuff. We even got to climb and play on them, though they hid all of the keys from us for some odd reason. I also passed my test and am an official Green Belt.
I've been designing a course on basic diesel engines in between projects and such. I'm presenting the course at our next section meeting, which sounds a bit scary. Here, me, a little intern who doesn't know that much about engines... is going to "teach" the basics to all of these experts lol. It's coming together really well, though, and it flows and looks amazing, of course.. you know me.. perfection is key.
Let's see.. that's all I've got about work.. next, I normally move on to the past weekends, so I won't deprive you of that. July 4th weekend was really fun. I love coming home. This past weekend was pretty cool, too, though. Got up early in the mornings to watch Wimbledon, and then watched the World Cup in the afternoon.. saw Pirates.. played tennis and watched Rent.. Got a homecooked meal away from home.. played with little kids at the pool.. All in all, it was a great weekend. What am I going to do this weekend? Hmm...
I'm coming home the 21st. My family and I are going to the RCA Championships (ATP Tennis Tournament) to see the semifinals on Saturday. I'm so excited I get to go this year! I really thought I wasn't going to be able to. This is practically the "full family" vacation this year, so I'm really excited. Andy Roddick, James Blake, Taylor Dent, Marat Safin, and Robby Ginepri (for those tennis fans out there) will all be present, so that's exciting. They are also starting "instant replay" challenges which should be interesting to watch.
The most surprising news of the day... I am not the only Yeester Bunny in the world. How weird is that? I was hanging out with one of my friends, and he calls me "Yeester Bunny." At first, I didn't think anything of it.. and then I was like.. wait.. "what did you just call me?" I guess there's some guy that he knows that has the same last name.. AND his brother's name is Eric. Wow.. weird, I know. So.. that's all I've got there.
My new laptop is sitting at home waiting for me...
Coming up... Home for July 21st.. LAST time before the end of my internship!

J.L.--> Congrats on the test. Green belt...I take it you mean karate? Yeah I don't watch tennis really, but thats cool you get to go that tournament. I missed the shuttle take off; did you get to see it? Oh hey, Cars was awesome, and the music was one of the best parts. lol Talk to ya l8er.
Tracie--> I would have gone very in depth about the awesomeness that was July 3rd, but that's just me! We're gonna have to do that again soon!!! And we're gonna have to go see "Lady in the Water", evidently on Friday night, which would be really fun because we would get the feel of the movie better at night. Man, I'm a planner. Okay... this is a long comment... Kyle and I are going to have to hop on coming to visit you!!!
your sister!--> wow,i just saw pirates 2, and i watched Rent like two nights before that too, how wierd (i felt i wasn't getting my money's worth, b/c i hadn't watched it since i bought it like 3 months ago)Anyway, wow, interesting news about the last thing that i talked to you about... i guess i can't really tell you on here. wow, and don't expect people to know who half those people are, or to expect them to know what the RCA tournament is. i should know from my tennis trivia extravaganza that i did. how sad, people didn't even know who andre agassi was. i mean just watch that razor commerical. geesh, and i thought every guy knew who sharapova was... ok, well yeah, i guess i'll see ya next week. and bring some of your cd's if you can!
kyle--> hey, man, I'm glad to hear that your presentation is coming together. I hope that goes wll for ya! That sounds really intimidating...
all three of those movies you talked about are awesome. I saw Pirates for the 2nd time, and it was even better the second time around, haha. The only beef I have with it is that I feel like it was a little long... like it's a long movie, obviously, but there were parts that felt long. I still love it, though. CAn't wait for the next one!!!
I'm excited for you and your laptop... Laptops are awesome, and wireless rocks, so nice job, man. lol
alright, that's all I've got. Later, man
Rachael Chase--> Wicked = possibly the best book ever...
I don't know anything about tennis...but I was in Europe for most of the World Cup, so that was exciting! :)
your favorite sister again!--> Mom and I went to the RCA today! Woo, be very jealous! We got some way cool autographs : ) oh, and dent isn't playin if you didn't know!
