The Process is Simple

Step 1) Determine your Membership Category

Student Membership: open to full-time students in good standing at a college or university with an Eta Sigma Iota chapter. Student members pay dues of $15/semester or $25/year. Student members are the only members with the "right to vote."

Honorary Membership: may be conferred upon any person of recognized ability and achievement in the field of homeland security or any person who has contributed significantly to the ideals and purposes of the Society. Honorary members pay a one-time dues fee of $40.

Advisory Membership: may be conferred upon any member of the faculty or staff of a chartered college or university whose work coincides with any aspect of homeland security. Advisory members pay a one-time dues fee of $40.

Step 2) Complete the Membership Application

All applying are required to complete the Membership Application for Society records. Those applying for Honorary or Advisory membership should include a resumé or an essay detailing their involvement in the field of Homeland Security. Once their information is recieved the Executive Board will review it and release their decision.

Once completed please send the application and any other documents to EtaSigmaIota@purdue.edu.

Step 3) Pay Membership Dues

Dues are $15/semester or $25/year for student members. Honorary and Advisory members must pay a one-time dues fee of $40.

Dues MUST be paid before attending a Member Meeting (a callout is not a Member Meeting). Checks should be made payable to "Eta Sigma Iota" and can be mailed to the address at the bottom of the Membership Application. Dues money will be used to fund guest speakers, certification opportunities, as well as society growth and expansion.

I Understand the Process. Now What?

Attend a Callout

At the beginning of each semester Eta Sigma Iota holds open callouts inviting anyone to come and see what we are about. We will answer questions such as: "Why is Eta Sigma Iota a 'Professional' society?", "What kind of training we offer?" and "What the heck is homeland security?"

Membership Applications will be passed out at the Callout and you will have the opportunity to pay dues. Dues are not required to be paid at the callout. However, dues MUST be paid before attending a Member Meeting.

Student Pledgeship

For one semester, student members shall be a "pledge member" of the society. During that time, pledge members shall be required to attend a minimum of 2 Member Meetings and a participate in the semester Pledge Project.

Becoming a Member

At the end of the academic year, and after pledgeship is completed, new student, honorary, and advisory members will be inducted into the Society at a special ceremony held in their honor. New members will receive a Certificate of Membership and a Society Pin.
